Camlever Quick Release

Clamp
1985

Quick releases are everywhere: on seatposts, wheel axles, and even on our Telescope handleposts. And don't they make life a lot easier? Some of you may remember when seatposts were fastened with a bolt and nut, and every time you wanted to adjust the saddle height, you had to go rummaging for tools. But we'll bet you didn't know that the present quick release design that combines a nylon platform above a round washer/cup and a cam shaped lever was conceived by our president, 17 years ago. His redesign of the older, more complicated Campagnolo quick release design simplified production and lowered costs to the point that the quick release became economical enough to use on all bikes. He freely gave the redesign to the manufacturer of our quick releases and the bicycle world has never been the same since.
