Dahon Fairy Arrives in Time for Christmas

DUARTE, California — December 4, 2006Dahon, the world leader in portable bicycles, today announced the winners of the inaugural 2006 Dahon Photography Competition. The Dahon Photography Competition was established to provide Dahon owners an opportunity to share how a Dahon fits into their life and for Dahon to offer riders the chance to win a custom built Dahon bike for their efforts. Frank Jackson, a US based photographer has taken first place in the competition and has the opportunity to custom build a Dahon to the value of UD$2,500. Mr. Jackson’s image of the Dahon ‘folding fairy’ beat over 400 entries from around the world from amateurs and professionals alike.

"Frank’s image is a powerful one and captures perfectly the aspects of modern personal mobility and the freedom one gets from riding a Dahon," commented Christopher Hess, Dahon Marketing Manager. "The wings symbolize freedom and the power to go anywhere you want, when you want, and the image also captures a strong, proud woman who is totally mobile.”

This year’s competition attracted entries from around the world and several of the images will be used in future Dahon marketing including posters, trade show displays, POS materials as well as catalogs and handbooks. Details of the winning bike builds will be posted on the Dahon website in early 2007. Frank Jackson was born in 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. His chosen medium is black and white film as he says it "forces the viewer to look at the essence of an image... its form, tone, light, and shadow... instead of being distracted by the decorative effects of color."
