Dahon Sponsored Riders "Breakaway" from the Pack

DUARTE, California — November 20, 2006Dahon, the world leader in portable bicycles, is proud to announce it’s sponsored team riders “Miss Behavin' and the 4 Players” have taken first place overall in the five-person Open category of the Granny Gear 24 Hour Series of mountain bike races. This series includes renowned races such as the 24 Hours of Moab and 24 Hours of Temecula. Two members of the team compete on the Dahon Flo, Dahon’s lightweight cross country BreakAway™ bicycle, and this is the first time a portable bicycle has taken first place in a competition at this level. Out of the 600 teams competing in the series, Team Miss Behavin’ finished 5th overall in all categories and was the highest placed of any team.

“This win for Team Miss Behavin’ should silence a lot of the skeptics out there that question the viability of portable bicycles as performance bikes,” stated Christopher Hess, Dahon Marketing Manager. “The Flo is the perfect solution for the traveling racer looking for no compromise performance and portability and Bruce and the team are wonderful Dahonambassadors. In fact, we are hoping to have the entire team on Dahon's for 2007 and the guys will be product testing the new full suspension Dahon Fuego for the upcoming season.”

The Dahon Sponsored Rider Program has been established for several years and applications are available by contacting . Currently Dahon sponsors road racers, cross country mountain biking solo riders and teams, as well as adventure racers using Dahon bicycles for kayaking, touring expeditions and other activities where portable bicycles are the best form of transport.

“We have been on the Dahon Sponsored Rider Program for two seasons now and the Dahon Flo has proved it’s worth time after time,” stated Team Miss Behavin’ Team Captain Bruce Frazier. “The beauty of the Flo is that we show up, compete and take a podium place, but it isn’t until we start packing the bike that people realize it’s a totally portable bike. So while we are checking in at the airport and having a beer in the lounge, other riders are busy arguing over charges for oversized luggage. The Flo is a no brainer for us. It works and it works well, no matter where we ride.”

The Dahon Flo is a lightweight (22.4lbs) steel hardtail mountain bicycle built with race ready componentry. Designed with Joe Murray, mountain bike hall of famer and two-time U.S. mountain bike champion, the Flo uses Ritchey's patented BreakAway T technology that allows riders to pull apart and pack their bicycle for travel. Such technology gives traveling riders and racers the ability to pack their bike in 15 minutes and take it with them no matter their destination. In 2004 Fortune magazine named the Dahon Flo “Product of the Year”. MSRP: US$2,299.
