DUARTE, California January 30, 2006 Dahon, the world leader in folding bicycles, today announced it's plans for the Taipei International Cycle Show to be held in Taipei from March 8 - 11, 2006. In a concerted effort to reduce excess waste at trade shows, Dahon's booth this year will feature re-usable and recyclable materials. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of a bike loan program as well as free wireless access at the Dahon booth.
"We're making a conscious effort to minimize waste, and to re-use and recycle wherever possible" stated Dahon VP of Sales and Marketing Josh Hon. "This includes Schwalbe's fantastic recycled flooring to re-usable reception desks, banners, posters, and product information sheets."
Mr Hon added, "Many show visitors stay beyond walking distance of the World Trade Centre and the taxi queue is crazy. In order to make the commute easier, Dahon will be offering loaner bikes on a first-come-first-served basis to visitors for the duration of the show. People taking advantage of this service will also have the option of purchasing their bike at a heavily discounted price once the show ends. This, together with free wireless Internet at our booth will make life a little easier for visitors at what is always a busy, busy show."
Dahon has worked closely with its booth designers and other partners including Schwalbe, in an attempt to keep waste to a minimum. The Schwalbe recycled tire flooring program involves dealers sending old tires directly to Schwalbe where they are ground down, turned into flooring mats and sold at cost. Dahon will import the mats from Germany to Taipei for this and future shows, and is proud to support such an initiative.
In terms of new products, Dahon will be exhibiting multiple new technologies, bikes and components. New models include several new folding bikes, more Mini Bikes and a handcrafted steel touring bike incorporating Ritchey's Break-Away technology. Other new and exciting confidential products include an ultra-compact folder and new drivetrain technology.
