Schwalbe Big Apple TIRES
"You have to try these tires", insisted one of the members of our European product team. But we were skeptical. We took a look at the ultra wide profile of the Big Apple's and thought about all the slow and inefficient fat tires we'd ridden over the years. But we were truly shocked when we rode the Big Apples for the first time: not only were these tires ultra plush and comfortable, like we'd expected, but they were also fast rolling and nimble. Side by side with our skinny racing tires, we weren't sure we could tell the difference in speed. How could this be? The secret lies with the supple, high quality casing that allows high pressures, the efficient and grippy Silica rubber tread, and the slick tread design. Schwalbe's in-house tests show the that at typical urban commute speeds, and at a given tire pressure, Big Apple's have a lower rolling resistance than thinner tires. Upgraded with a layer of KevlarGuard for significantly improved puncture protection. 3M reflective tape on the sidewall adds an added measure of safety. Read more here.
