Traditional rear derailleurs weren’t designed for small wheels: long cages leave little ground clearance and large parallelograms protrude awkwardly from the frame, vulnerable to damage. To solve these problems, we developed the Neos line of derailleurs. The revolutionary low-profile design mounts directly to the chain stay with the body of the derailleur tucked underneath, protected from damage. In recent years, Shimano has seen the logic of such low-profile designs and has begun to incorporate it. The Neos’ ultra-short cage delivers crisp, lightning fast shifts, and as an added benefit, doubles the amount of ground clearance. (Note for adjustments: the Neos is a Rapid-Rise derailleur)
