Professor Bikes to Work
Nadav Ahituv is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and the Institute for Human Genetics at the University of California, San Francisco. Professor Ahituv daily traverses the hilly terrain of San Francisco as he bikes to work on a Dahon Speed P8. The following is his description of his daily commute.
I commute daily to San Francisco using the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train system. During rush hour the trains are quite busy and bikes are not allowed; however, folding bikes are an exception to this rule. I thus use my Dahon Speed P8 to get to work on a daily basis. After getting off at the ‘Civic Center’ station I bike through the steep hills amongst the Victorians all the way to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Parnassus campus that is right next to Golden Gate Park. Not only is it a great ride it also forces me to keep in shape, though I usually cheat at the last hill next to UCSF and take the parking garage elevator instead of going up an almost 90 degree slope.
Professor Ahituv's work is focused on discovering DNA sequences that regulate genes and linking mutations within them to human disease. For more information, please go to http://bts.ucsf.edu/ahituv/.

I bike to work too
I bike to work too . . . about 10 km one way. It's a great way to keep fit and avoid the traffic jams snarling the roads.
