It’s primed for urban riding with Schwalbe’s legendary Big Apple tires and the smoothest shifting drivetrain on the planet – the Shimano Alfine. The 7005 aluminum frame is burly and stiff and even up close you can barely tell that it folds. But fold it does, in less than 30 seconds when you need to stash it in your hallway closet or take it on the bus.
A steel hardtail for anything from flowing singletrack, to epic all day rides. Our good friend Joe Murray, mountain bike hall of famer, two-time U.S. mountain bike champion, and probably the most respected name in steel hardtail design, helped us design the Flo. The goal was to build the ultimate go-anywhere-in-the-world ride. With Joe’s frame geometry and Reynolds’ 631 air-hardened steel tubing, the Flo delivers a ride that’s incredibly smooth, yet lively. Fifteen minutes is all it takes to pack the Flo into a suitcase for easy travel. You’ll never have to leave your mountain bike at home again.
The new LockJaw family of mini bikes is a completely new take on urban bike design and the Hammerhead heads the category. The super compact DualArc frame is incredibly stiff – stiffer than most full size bike frames. The Hammerhead is a fast, agile flat bar road bike that’s as suitable for weekday commuting as it is for a weekend century. Rocket fast Kinetix Pro wheels and a SRAM X9 drivetrain with DoubleTap shifters get up to speed in an instant and are perfect for blazing past cars stuck in urban parking lots. The Jetstream EX is quite possibly the most technologically advanced folding bike on the planet with its suspension system having been engineered with one of the cycling world’s foremost authorities on suspension. The bike soaks up potholes yet there’s no energy-robbing bob when you hammer on the flats. For 2010, we upgrade just about everything, adding such tasty components as Avid Juicy hydraulic brakes and a SRAM DualDrive 27 speed drivetrain.
Fractured asphalt, potholes, and ruts – the Jetstream P8 can handle it all. The full-suspension design, with suspension kinematics engineered in Germany, takes small wheel bike suspension to a new level. A sophisticated air shock allows tuning for different riders and riding styles.
The Matrix is an urban bike that will take on anything you throw at it. Drop it down on the nastiest potholed roads and the hydraulically-damped fork and Big Apple tires level everything out. On smooth tarmac, lock out the fork and you can hammer away efficiently. We’ve given the Matrix a LockJaw folding hinge too. When locked down, the hinges are incredibly strong but virtually invisible so nobody will even know you’re on a folding bike.
Our top of the range bike for 2010, the Dahon Mu EX is a no-compromise speed machine equipped with the best components available. It’s stunningly light, stiff, and rocket fast. The precision and effortless shifting of the SRAM Red drivetrain needs to be ridden to be believed. Designed to be an all-around performer: good for anything from centuries, to sprinting to work, to leisurely rides around Central Park.
The Mu SL is the lightest bike in our range. It incorporates just about everything we know about making an ultra-light and fast-folding bike for all-around use. For riders who spend a lot of time folding and carrying their bikes, the wonderfully light weight is a joy that’s sure to bring a smile. But we didn’t sacrifice performance and comfort for the sake of light weight. The Mu SL incorporates top of the line bike components including Kinetix Pro wheels and SRAM’s DoubleTap flat bar shifters. The ultimate in super portable urban transport.
