Giving

Giving back to the community is important to us. Being able to bring a smile to the face of someone less fortunate is an unbelievable feeling. Companies like Patagonia, which donate 1% of their sales, are a model of corporate giving and activism that we aspire to. We support the following organizations below:

Mobile HIV/AIDS Clinic

Professor Pierre Bélanger of the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design of the University of Toronto has developed a mobile clinic for HIV/AIDS education, testing and treatment. Starting in 2005 this mobile clinic will be used in Nigeria, an area with one of the world’s highest rates of HIV/AIDS infection.

Dahon donated two specially modified folding bikes for use on the first Mobile HIV clinic.

Trips for Kids
Learn more!

Trips for Kids is a national non-profit organization that provides the materials, moral support and inspiration that an individual or group needs in order to successfully start a Trips for Kids Chapter and help disadvantaged kids discover the joy of mountain biking. Based on the Trip for Kids Model Program in Marin County, California, Trips for Kids bike programs have helped inner city and low income kids across the United States and Canada by offering mountain bike outings and environmental education. We open the world of cycling to at risk youth through day-long mountain bike rides and afterschool Earn-A-Bike programs. The goal of our youth bike programs is to combine lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun.

Equicycle

"Since August 15, 2005 the Canadian equicycle team (Amélie Racine and Mark Schanzleh) has been cycling through Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands to complete its mission. Main goals are raising funds for the not-for-profit Canadian organization Équiterre, conducting a study on cycle tourism in the three European countries mentioned and making a personal contribution to the Kyoto protocol. Your sponsorship helps us in accomplishing our goals. We thank Dahon for the contribution made, and we hope that the public recognizes Dahon’s giving mentality."

Bike to Work Day

"On behalf of the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition and the hundreds of local volunteers from the nine Bay Area counties, we wish to express our gratitude for the support and sponsorship provided by Dahon for the 11th annual Bike to Work Day.

One of the primary goals of Bike to Work Day is to inspire first-time riders to pedal to work and to recognize and reward the tens of thousands of existing bike commuters. Another objective it to promote bicycling as viable form of transportation that includes personal, societal, health, environmental and economic benefits.

Your sponsorship has helped us accomplish these goals. This event would not be successful without the support of Bay Area businesses. We hope that the public will recognize the contribution made by Dahon to such a worthwhile community effort."

CSULB Crew Team

"A few weeks ago, the CSULB Crew Team held a raffle for a bike that was donated by Dahon. Several hundred tickets were sold to people in hopes they would win the bike. When the raffle was over and the money that we raised was counted, we made over $2,200. Our team is made up of a bunch of money strapped students who just want to do what they do best, Row. The $2,200 we raised paid for expenses that normally would have come out of our already empty pockets. It's an incredible amount of money.

Your generosity of donating a bike turned into an opportunity given to over 40 rowers to race with the fastest teams in the nation. We are constantly amazed everyday by the selfless generosity of others. We strive to create the same image for ourselves. To be able to work with others and make the sacrifices is a quality that is always treasured and remembered by others.

Again, thank you for your generosity. Our dreams are becoming our reality and it all started with kind people like you."

"Your Support Keeps Libraries From Folding."

Hello! This email is a sincere thank-you... I would not have been able to do my upcoming PR event without your help. I am a children's librarian in the state of Iowa, and as part of our library's summer reading program for children, I will be riding the Dahon across the state of Iowa, stopping at various libraries along the way to do a library PR program called “Your Support Keeps Libraries From Folding.” Using the Dahon foldable as my vehicle provides an unforgettable visual image to accompany the call for grassroots support of public libraries. I know this to be true as I have seen first-hand the interest generated by watching a Dahon fold up in a matter of seconds, and I am counting on the Dahon to provide an extra kick to my event that a regular bicycle would not. I am extremely grateful for your assistance.

Thanks again.
